Reminiscence
I've never told you
how my wings spread each and every night; a tiny moth reflecting hundreds of moons
I've never told you
how my soul travels through the woods; eyes closed, hair fluttering on the wind
I've never told you
how my heart becomes one with the trees; solid bark against a beating pulse
I've never told you
how my steps lead me into unattended paths and trails between the shadows
I held it close, moving each day into the distance
millions of roads and every one of them taking me away
my eyes filled with dust and coal
our touches linger in the mist of memories
a reminiscence
tender caress of the past
